Basic Rules of the PRODWAT Electronic Conference

There are four important ideas that you should remember as a participant in an E-Conference:

1. An E-Conference is managed with the aid of a listserver. In this case, Antenna is running on a computer.

2. Next to Antenna, we have a real team (the facilitation team) waiting to give you any technical support you may need. You can reach them at stravato@irc.nl.

3. The software that runs this electronic list does not recognize you as a person. It recognizes your e-mail address. It is your e-mail address that is registered as a participant. This means that you can only send and/or receive messages from the e-mail address that is registered as a participant. You can register as many e-mail addresses as you wish.

4. When you send a message to the E-Conference, it cannot be stopped or changed.

Norms of good behaviour

Like in any conference, if we all follow certain norms, your participation will be nicer and more productive. Here are some suggestions:

1. Respect the objectives and topics of the conference

In this E-Conference, we expect to read messages and documents about the very specific issue of Multiple uses. Please avoid using this electronic conference to disseminate information or opinions about other topics, even if they are of great importance to you and to the world in general.

2. Watch out for viruses
Remember you will be interacting with several hundred persons, and you don't know where the rest of us had been lately! Install a good anti-virus software in your computer. NEVER send attachments. Remember, your files will be received by several hundred persons, all of whom will not like you if you are spreading viruses so it is MUCH safer to send your comments as text in the body of the e-mail message.

3. Avoid sending personal messages to the list

If you are in a "real world" conference and you see a friend across the room, you will not shout "Hey John!!!" in the middle of someone else's speech. Same thing in an electronic conference: Do not send personal messages to the electronic conference, since they will be received not only by your friend, but by the other several hundred participants as well. The rule is to send to the list only messages that in principle can be of interest to all the participants.

4. Need help? Send us a PRIVATE message
If at any time you need some help, or want to unsubscribe from the conference, or want to change your registered e-mail address, please do not send your message to the conference. Send it to us, privately, at stravato@irc.nl.
