Often, the planners of domestic water supply systems do not take into account the water needed for irrigating small backyard plots of vegetables or watering livestock. In this photograph from South Africa, a connection has been made to collect the waste water from filling containers at a communal standpost, and it is used to irrigate green vegetables.
