Costs and benefits of multiple use approaches
Winrock International, in collaboration with the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, the International Water and Management Institute, and Stockholm Environment Institute, are currently undertaking an assessment on multiple uses of water for the Gates Foundation. The assessment tries to address the following two questions: 1) What are the additional costs and benefits of multiple-use approaches over single-use approaches? and 2) Where do multiple-use approaches apply and who are the main beneficiaries? If you have information to share on the relative benefits and costs of multiple uses versus single-use approaches, focusing on health, income, livelihoods, and social equity among the poor, as well as productive uses (home gardens, livestock, fisheries, small scale enterprise activities etc) at the household and community levels, please share them with the project team before June 2007 by writing to Mary Renwick.
